We celebrated my seven-year-old kid’s “special day” with a movie birthday party at our new state-of-the-art movie theater, Mary Max Cinemas Logansport 5. My memorable parent “movie experience” began on a festive Saturday afternoon with 17 overly excited five and six-year-old Kindergarten aged kids (respectfully well-behaved). My youngest kid’s classmates, friends, family, and cousins were invited to his yearly birthday extravaganza, the most anticipated “event of the year” (in my mom mind and his). My event planner job is complete, at least until next year. But, my oldest kid turns 12 in October, so the joy of event planning will begin again, with the next birthday boy growing a year older.
All 34 of the 17 kid’s eyes (parents, too) were intensely watching “Peabody & Sherman,” the newest “kid movie” released. The kids loved their unlimited popcorn, drinks, bag of Skittles, and arcade tokens for the game room. We were granted a behind-the-scenes tour of this phenomenol local movie theater and observed the highly advanced digital video projector and sound system with 3D capability (a sound and video engineers dream).
So, how about a “movie party” at your local movie theater? Some of the parents "raved" that our movie party Mary Max Cinemas Logansport 5 at was an "out-of-the-box" idea and would host their own kid’s birthday party at a movie theater as an alternative to our routine party places in Logansport, IN. During my event planning research, I learned about a nostalgic birthday party venue, The Capitol Theater, in Arlington, MA (near Boston). This historical landmark debuted in 1925 and features an old-fashioned ice cream parlor inside of it. Every kid at our movie party was in a "character themed movie trance,” including my birthday boy, who proudly expressed his "official approval" by pointing both of his "thumbs up." http://www.somervilletheatreonline.com/capitol-theatre
